SWFL Children’s Charities, Inc. recently hosted its final social leading up to the 2020 Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest. Bringing together trustees, sponsors and supporters, the cocktail reception was hosted by trustees Susan and Jeff Lagarce at their home in Miromar Lakes and included the 2020 Signature Vintner, Paul Hobbs of Paul Hobbs Winery. Event chairs Brooke Denson and Sandy Stilwell Youngquist kicked off the evening with a preview of the 2020 Child Artist and demonstrations from Florida SouthWestern State College of Nursing students of their new training ambulance and equipment funded by SWFL Children’s Charities. Christine O’Neal, the mother of 2020 Child Artist, 1-year-old Ellie, shared the story of her daughter’s unexpected early birth and journey with Golisano Children’s Hospital with the attendees. Paul Hobbs of Paul Hobbs Winery shared the history of how he started at a young age with his father growing grapes and now having been awarded six 100-point wines since 2002 and operating seven wineries in four continents including North and South America, Africa and Europe. Celebrating its 12th year, the two-day Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest will feature Chef Vintner Dinners on Friday, Feb. 21, creatively hosted in private luxury venues across the region, and the Grand Tasting and Live Auction on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa in Bonita Springs. Guests will experience artful cuisine created by celebrated chefs and expertly paired with vintners from some of the finest and most exclusive wineries.
