Chefs Mike & Karen Gavala
Chef Michael Gavala has 35+ years of restaurateur/catering experience starting as a dishwasher in his youth and working his way up. After attending the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Gavala started his first catering business and gourmet Italian Market and fresh seafood market in New Jersey.
In 1994, Chef Gavala moved to Ft. Myers and became owner/operator of Sasse il Pizzaiuolo where he created new twists on classical Italian and country French cuisine earning him a two-time title of Best Italian Restaurant from Gulf Shore Life.
Later, Gavala joined Finemark National Bank and Trust as theCorporate Food and Beverage Director. In 2012, Mike and his wife, Karen, also a Chef, launched G3 Catering. Together with others, the Gavala’s also own Misty Morning at Clutch Farms in Estero that hosts a variety of corporate events and weddings.
Gavala is a board member for LARC, Inc. and he and his wife are proud supporters of many other local charities including CCMI, United Way, Family Initiative, and Golisano Children’s Hospital to name a few. Gavala and his wife have two boys and enjoy hunting, fishing, and boating in their spare time.
